The Providence Poetry Slam is one of the oldest and most respected national Poetry Slam venues. Known for its quality work and strong community, the Providence Slam Team won the National Poetry Slam in 1996, hosted Nationals in 2000, and placed third overall in the 2011 competition. Representatives from our community have also reached finals at the Individual World Poetry Slam and the Women of the World Poetry Slam.

Housed at AS220, ProvSlam offers writing workshops, open mics, feature performances by traveling artists, an open slam, and a youth poetry program (in conjunction with New Urban Arts).

It is the objective of this venue to maintain and provide a space where individuals can come to share and learn from one another. Writers, singers, emcees, carpenters, doctors, janitors, lawyers, and waitresses; we are not defined by our job titles. Everyone is welcome at ProvSlam.

Bring flyers for community events and actions. Bring your songs, poems, and rants. Bring your ears, anger, smiles, and tears. The stage is open to you.
